Live on Pay Per View on Sunday, April 29th was WWE’s Extreme Rules, a sold out event in the Allstate Arena of Chicago, Illinois. The buildup of these matches have been very intense for the last few weeks, and by far one of the best PPV event’s of 2012 thus far. The fight of the night was between Brock Lesnar and John Cena in a “Extreme Rules” match, which means anything goes! The Chicago Street- Fight match between CM Punk and Chris Jericho. Those were the 2 heavy hitters of the night. There were also several other matches that took place as well.
WWE and Youtube kicked off a Extreme Rules Pre- show at 7:30pm with Santino Marella defending the United States Championship against The Miz. Unfortunately, The Miz fell short of winning the U.S title to Santino as he fought his way through the match and retained the U.S championship. Randy Orton took on Kane in a falls count anywhere match. This is a rivalry that has had a huge build up since Wrestlemania with Kane stalking Orton and his family. It all came down to this last night as Orton gave enough blows to Kane and successfully gained a victory in this hard fought match. Cody Rhodes defeated the intercontinental champion Big Show in a table match, Shemaus defeats Daniel Bryan in a 2 out of 3 falls match, and a new face of the WWE, Ryback, defeats two local athletes in single’s competition.
The Chicago street fight match between Chris Jericho and CM Punk is a classic match for the ages. Since there classic match at Wrestlemania, these two men are at each other’s throats. Jericho has been accusing Punk of not being Straight Edge and drinking alcohol, even going as far as insulting his family. So Punk had the opportunity to get some revenge on Jericho and destroyed him with a elbow drop off the top rope onto a announce table. CM Punk gained the victory over Chris Jericho and remained the WWE Champion.
The main event between John Cena and Brock Lesnar is the match of the night that had everyone talking. This matchup was very intense. Lesnar delivered hard blows to Cena, which caused a face full of blood and some torn muscles. This battle was hard fought, but somehow Cena managed to deliver “Attitude Adjustment” to Lesnar on the steel steps for the victory. After the match, Cena was immediately treated for medical to make sure he was able to appear on Raw Supershow. Injury updates will be followed in the moment’s to come.
